Bobby Valentine played and managed in professional baseball for over 40 years. He was a member of the Dodgers, Angels, Mets and Mariners before managing the Rangers, Mets and Red Sox. At the height of his managerial career, Valentine led the Mets to the World Series in 2000. After a 94-win season, stars Mike Piazza and Benny Agbayani helped the Mets advance past the San Francisco Giants in the NLDS and the St. Louis Cardinals in the NLCS. The Mets then faced-off against the crosstown rival Yankees in the “Subway Series”, which captivated the Big Apple like few sporting events ever have. Though the Yankees went on to win the series in five games, the 2000 Mets are still beloved by fans for putting together one of the most memorable seasons in Mets lore. This gray Mets away jersey was worn by manager Bobby Valentine during the World Series games that took place in the Bronx, and is a unique treasure from an amazing moment in New York sports history.
